Wooden Pumpkin Blocks

I'm not gonna lie. I have a fear of power tools. Whenever I see a craft that requires a saw of any type I run the other direction. But I must get over it! There is just too much cute stuff out there. I have enlisted John's help with my first try though. This one looks so simple I doubt I can mess it up. Hopefully this blog will someday show a progression of my woodworking abilities. Pumpkin Patch This Weekend

I really want to make one of these, but I hear they take FOREVER to make. The blog I was reading said it took her 16 hours. I could barely make it through the 8 hour rug. Oh well, put it on the list for some day. Check out the tutorial .

Happy Birthday to Me!

Saturday I turned 27. For my birthday we rented a house in Spotsylvania, Virginia. It was a little property with several historic homes on the ranch.  The house we stayed in was, originally, from George Washington's property. It was gorgeous and peaceful there. Here are some pictures.

Mail from Scotland

I received my first mail from Scotland last week. My friend Dianna moved there last month and added to my magnet collection. Aren't the card and magnet so cute? My magnet collection is becoming quite sophisticated. My magnets come from Scotland, England, Kansas, and more. Clearly I am a world traveler.

Towel Rug

I posted this idea a few weeks ago and I finally finished it. I really believed it would take me an hour or two to complete, but it ended up taking about 8 hours. It was crazy! I would recommend this to be one of those things you just slowly work on as you watch tv or something. It really can't be done in one sitting.

I have to say, I do love the results even though I feel like it took an absurd amount of time. I didn't want to use our old towels because I am over their seafoam green color. However, I did find these white and tan towels on clearancce at T.J. Maxx, as well, as the mat to tie it to. I bought the smallest mat and had enough left over to place it under two other rugs to keep them from slipping.

I love apothecary jars, but they are so expensive. Just yesterday, I was in T.J. Maxx and they were $30 each! I love this tutorial on how to make your own with a Halloween twist. The possibilities are endless. You could do something really great and beachy too. That's my plan, anyway.

Painted Drapes

As a non-sewer I love this idea. It's super cute. I would definitely use two more sheets to make it look less skimpy, but I love the stenciling. I would ahve actually done one more row as well. This may be a project in the Loop house. Check out the tutorial here.

Rolly and his Girlfriend

Once a week Rolly goes to Camp Bow Wow to sort of break up his week of being home alone during the day. This place is so stinking cute and Rolly loves it. He would go more but it is pretty pricey. Today one of our neighbors took their dog whom Rolly loves. The "Camp Counselor" sent me a pic of them playing today. He loves Lilu so much! This is totally a love bite! He even cries when we walk by Lilu's house in the morning because he wants to go see her. Oh young love.

Rolly's First Swim

Each year the local pools open their doors to pooches before they close for the season. Rolly had a great time playing in the water, but mostly just playing with his friends!

Amazing Homemade Bathroom Rug!

This is such a cute and simple idea. Better yet it is very inexpensive. You simply buy a rubber gridded mat and tie strips of old towels you already have. Check out the tutorial at The Pursuit of Happiness.

I found this craft at at a blog called Make Mine Lime. I have seen many tutorials for fabric pumpkins that I have loved. Sadly I don't have a sewing machine so I haven't been able to try them. Crafty Saturday

Rolly went to the groomers today so it gave me a few hours to work on my fabric wreath. I am pretty pleased with the results. I wish I would have gotten a larger wreath though. Fortunately, I have a ton of fabric left so I may give this one to someone as a gift and make myself a larger one. Here are some pictures. It was very easy.
